there is no such thing as a tea cup , it is the runt of the litter and they usually have more health issues then the rest

There is no such thing as a teacup Shi Tzu, this is what some BYB’s made up to sell there ill bred tiny runts. According to AKC breed standard the Shi Tzu is a "substantial dog" weighing around 16 lb

Both are just lies used by crooks to scam the gullible into buying expensive CRAP!!!
No such things exist!
Easily proven by simply reading the breed standard at the AKC site.

Both are Shih Tzus.
Both have an idiotic cutesey name slapped on them by horrible irresponsible breeders.
If you want Shih Tzu, go to a shelter or a reputable breeder (contact your country’s Shih Tzu breed club for info on breeders in your area).

own a shih tzu
there is no difference.
Both are scam terms used by crappy breeders to sell runts for a high price tag. I’d run from any breeder who uses either of these terms.
Shih Tzus come in ONE size ONLY. terms like "teacup" and "imperial" are NOT recognized by any reputable breeder, registry, breed club or kennel club.

There is no difference. Backyard breeders tack these names on to get more money for the pups and, sadly, they often succeed. What the buyers don’t know is that with breeds like yorkies and shihtzus, the smaller the dog, the more unhealthy it is. And tiny unhealthy dogs cost a lot of money.
I got an older puppy (yorkie) from an individual and he tops out at 11 lbs. The vet says he’s the healthiest yorkie he’s ever seen.

Absolutely nothing, seeing as there is no such thing as either.
Both term represent the whole "i made the dogs smaller than standard" fad going around.
There is ONE recognized Shih Tzu – and that is the Shih Tzu. No "imperial", no "teacup", and no different sizes. One size, one breed. Period.
Anyone selling a "teacup" or "imperial" Shih Tzu is a BYB or puppy miller – in other words, scam!
Please check out the sites below – they have breed info and info on finding good breeders.

The only difference is that impreial breeders wanted to try and distance themselves from the term "teacup." NEITHER are reputable breeders however. Shih Tzus come in ONE count ‘em ONE SIZE.

For all of you that say a "imperial Shih Tzu" does not exist, what about the mini "toy" poodle, it is a small version of the large standard poodle, yet NO ONE DARES call a toy poodle a "runt" or sickly dog because AKC recognizes it as a breed. One day the Imperial shih tzu will be recognized by AKC and you can all think back on your harsh comments, will you still say it is a sickly runt? A lot of breeds have been bred down for size and they are perfectly healthy versions of their larger breed. It can be done and is being done by ethical breeders who are placing health foremost, more than some standard shih tzu breeders.
